Q: I recently hired a young man who did a great job but did not seem willing to solve a problem.
\"Joshua\" works at our reception desk, answering calls and helping customers.
He is willing to take on more work and says he likes to work here.
The only problem is that Joshua\'s handwriting is terrible.
Whenever he leaves a message to people, they have to find him and ask him to translate.
I have mentioned many times that he should improve his level of calligraphy, and the other managers have told him that too.
In the rare case that Joshua left easy-to-read notes, I always praised him.
However, this does not bring any benefits.
I also suggested that he could send the message by email, but he never did.
How can I get Joshua to take this matter seriously?
A: managers often mistakenly believe that simply mentioning a problem can magically produce a solution.
Unfortunately, however, this is rarely the case.
Performance Coaching takes several steps, and awareness is only the first.
Given the opinions of multiple managers, Joshua is clearly aware of the issue.
Since his notes are occasionally clearly visible, he can obviously fix it if he wants.
So, if consciousness and ability are not a problem, then there is a question of motivation left.
It is not important enough for Joshua to improve his handwriting.
The reason is very clear.
Although you have repeatedly asked for change, your actions contradict your words.
Continue to accept his illegible notes and send out a message that they are actually fine.
In order to resolve this performance issue, you have to reiterate your expectations and then make sure they are met.
So it\'s time to suggest to young Joshua that things are about to change.
For example: \"Joshua, I want you to know that I am very satisfied with your work at reception.
Unreadable notes, however, are still a problem, although you can write them clearly when you try.
They must be legible if you like written information.
But we will have to switch to email if they don\'t.
\"Advise other managers on this plan and then be sure to get their feedback.
If these chaotic messages continue, Joshua will have to lose his writing privileges.
Q: Because I\'m only four years old. foot-
5. people seem to think of me as a child.
After 14 years, I was recently fired and started looking for a new job.
However, I think the interviewer left me out as soon as he saw me.
Since I can\'t grow taller, how can I overcome this obstacle?
A: Although it is undeniable that you are short in shape, you should not think that it will leave A negative impression.
But if a child-like assumption is a problem, then every other aspect of your behavior must convey \"mature professional adults \".
\"This includes dressing, hairstyles, speeches and introductory handshakes, as well as your LinkedIn profile, resume and interview response.
To assess the impact of these changes, ask for feedback from trusted friends or colleagues, especially those with recruitment experience.
Since it\'s been a while since you last looked for a job, do some practice interviews to increase your confidence.
If you think you\'re a steady, professional, self-contained person
Rest assured that your height will no longer be relevant. Marie G.
