It is quick and convenient to install the compound shower pan.
Before discussing the simple steps to install a compound shower pan, I felt it necessary to do some clarification and definition as not all shower pans are the same.
What\'s in the name?
Although there are many different roof systems and roof materials, the roof is the roof.
\"Shower pot\" is not true.
\"They are often referred to alternately as shower pans, shower pan liners, shower pan film liners, waterproof barriers, shower bases, shower trays or shower receivers.
However, each language has different meanings depending on the context, and each language has different materials.
Bob Vila\'s website defines the shower pan as the \"bottom\" of the shower housing with a drain pipe.
Same as a shower receptor. piece base (floor)
A device used as a shower, for example, to pick up water and direct it to the central drain.
\"I provide the following definitions for clarity.
Shower basin and shower base-
A finished area that is able to hold the water and guide the drain, plus no tiles are required after installation.
The shower pan or base has a drain hole, a sloping floor that can properly direct the water to the drain hole, side wall, and threshold (
Entrance to the shower, forming a curb to prevent water flow to the bathroom floor).
The shower pan is synonymous with the shower base.
Shower pan liner, membrane liner and waterproof barrier-
A barrier, usually a plastic sheet or film, designed to capture the water in the shower floor tiles, Grout and mortar that penetrate under the tile and force the flow of water to the drain.
It can prevent water from reaching the submarine as long as it does not leak
Floor and surrounding wall housing.
The padding is a part of the built shower pan.
Shower pan liner is synonymous with shower pan membrane liner and waterproof barrier.
Shower tray and shower receiver
The shower tray is synonymous with the shower receiver.
Both are used instead of liner.
They have the same function as the liner, but in
Form to eliminate some of the installation steps required when using the liner.
The shower tray liner, shower tray and shower receiver are all used together with the structure of the shower tray with tile floor and tile wall housing.
The shower pots available commercially are complete and ready-madeto-install units.
They eliminate the need to create mud ramp floors, shower liners or trays, and shower floor tiles.
Compound shower pan.
Since the compound shower pot is made of a variety of different materials, the structure is different.
I would like to talk about each of the most common types.
The compound shower pot is divided into several material groups;
Marble, fiberglass, acrylic and solid surfaces.
Generally made of flat plates, hot
Made of a single material, or molded or cast into a whole. The one-
The block structure eliminates the seams, thus eliminating potential leaks.
Everyone has their own advantages and disadvantages.
Because beauty is in the eyes of onlookers, I will not comment on the appearance.
All composite shower pans are mounted on a flat horizontal floor and do not need to create a reclined mud base.
In addition, the use of plastic film is often not required for a casting or molded pan.
Farmed marble and decorative versions like farmed onyx agate and granite tend to cost the least.
Cultured marble is sprayed with \"gel-
Stick to the mold.
The thickness of this coating is about 1/64 \"or less. The gel-
Covered with pigmentation and then backed with calcium carbonate.
Calcium carbonate gives strength to the finished part.
In addition, during the casting process, in order to reduce the density and weight, it is injected into the airbag.
The marble floor of the culture is poured separately from the side wall.
Therefore, in order to ensure a water-tight, leak-free installation, the addition of the shower tray liner is essential.
Despite its wide use, the underside of the cultured marble is outside the gel
Coated, calcium carbonate is highly porous.
Any cracks or scratches in the gel
The coating will allow water to penetrate. Other gel-
Coat features include:
Even if there is no ultraviolet radiation, it will be yellow;
Cloud in hot water; staining; crazing (
Fine Grain crack);
It is unfixable when cracks or gaps.
Fiberglass is also widely used.
The glass fiber is strong, light and cheap.
Many fiberglass manufacturers
Overall shower pan and shell and one
Combined bathtub and shower with wall housing.
Fiberglass is similar to artificial marble and is made of gel
Paint and chopped fiberglass in the resin mixture.
The thickness of the General finished product is about 1/8 \"to 1/4.
The lower side of the shower pan floor adds straps to support the floor.
Because the floor is not strong, the space that is not supported between the straps can be bent.
This bending is particularly noticeable in places where heavy objects or standing between straps.
Bending can lead to material fatigue and cracking over time.
Once there is a crack, the pot will fail.
The Acrylic board is used to vacuum the shower pan, bathtub, spa and many other items.
The vacuum forming process starts with a 1/4 colored acrylic resin, heated to the temperature that makes the acrylic resin tough.
Place the paper on the mold and stretch it on the form to create the finished shape.
The heating and stretching of the plate causes the wall thickness to decrease.
The reduction is proportional to the amount of stretching that occurs.
Using a shower pan can reduce material compared to creating a bathtub or spa.
The heating, stretching and cooling of the material will also put pressure on the finished pot.
Like a fiberglass Pan, the acrylic pan needs to have support elements under the PAN floor.
Polyurethane foam is a common supporting element.
The foam fills the void, eliminating the bending of the PAN floor.
When cleaned with many common cleaning chemicals, acrylic sheets are prone to cracking, minor surface cracking and cracking.
If cracks occur, these cracks may cause the pot to fail over time.
The acrylic sheet has very different physical and chemical properties from the acrylic solid surface material.
In addition to acrylic resin for solid surfaces, solid surface materials also obtain additional physical and chemical properties from the addition of aluminatri-Or ATH.
ATH can cause a detergent that adversely affects the acrylic resin to have no effect on the solid surface.
Solid surface shower pan on topof-the-
In line with physical and chemical properties as well as performance, repair and countless other features and advantages.
The main features of the solid surface are
Porous, does not support the growth of mold, mold or bacteria, is available in a variety of appearances (
Some like natural granite)
And color, 100% can be repaired if there is debris, scratches or even cracking.
Health departments across the country have approved solid surface materials for use in the areas of hospital and food preparation, which are resistant to bacterial growth, easy to clean and maintain, and anti-staining and contamination.
Some solid surface shower pans manufacturers make pans in paper products in a similar way to acrylic shower pans.
That is, they form a pot floor by heating and stretching the material and then gluing the side walls and thresholds to the floor.
The royal stone brand solid surface shower pan is the one I made and it will be used to illustrate the simplicity and simplicity that can be installed when installing a composite shower pan.
Unlike the artificial solid surface shower pot, the royal stone shower pot is cast
Solid Surface products.
Cast the pot into a whole
Block unit, no stress is introduced in the pan, many other functions are designed and designed in this pan.
The most obvious feature is the large radius transition between the PAN floor and the side wall.
Secondly, flange (
Also called crying)is 1-1/2\" tall.
I have seen pots that do not contain an integral flange or flange height of 1/2 to 1.
The increased height is designed to minimize (if not eliminated) any water pulled up behind the wall surround panel that can cause water damage to the shower unitstructure.
The minimum wall thickness of the royal stone pan is 1/2 \", the strap element has a wide foot, and there is a large stress relief radius angle between the pot floor and the strap.
All shower pans are carefully designed to support a weight of 3/4 thick (2 cm)
Granite slabs and all other commonly used wall materials such as tiles, fiberglass, acrylic and solid panels.
Finally, regardless of the floor load, the royal stone pot floor is very solid and feels like standing on a hard concrete floor.
No apparent bending or oil-
Tank of pot floor.
Therefore, over time, there is no possibility of fatigue and cracking of the floor, and the possibility of failure of the pot is eliminated.
Quick and convenient installation.
As I have said, the compound pan is mounted on a flat submarinefloor.
The following installation information may not apply to all types of compound shower pans.
Specifically, I have a direct understanding of installing cast one
A solid surface shower pan made of royal stone.
As a result, the following are the standard and custom shower pans that apply directly to royal stone.
The same steps should also apply to other types of compound pans and other materials, however, please follow the installation instructions recommended by the manufacturer.
I don\'t install the pot as a manufacturer.
The photos included in this article are provided by local installers.
To be clear about the installation process, they also added photos of the different pots.
Therefore, the color and shape of different pots.
Also, most of the photos come from a unique plumbing situation.
There are all the water pipes on the ground.
As a result, a slab platform was built above the shower pipe.
The following installation information is applicable to concrete, plywood, scrap board, wood, etc. sub-
A floor located, above or below the grade. Step 1 -SUB-
Floor preparation: use the template that comes with the shower pan, place the template on the floor and verify that the drain is in the right place.
If the drain is not positioned correctly, please relocate the drain.
Note: relocation drains are usually much cheaper than having a custom pan casting to accommodate your existing drain locations.
Hole in the submarine
The floor needs to be larger than the drain.
6 \"round or square holes around (
About the size of a coffee can)is recommended.
This larger opening provides space for drainage components that extend below the bottom of the pan.
Most drains are 2 \"PVC.
The PVC pipe allows some bending in the 6 \"opening of the sub-pipefloor.
This bending is required to make it easier to install the pan.
PVC pipe should extend above the finished pipe
Floors of at least 1/2 \"to 3\" to 4. The sub-
The floor can be wood, plywood, concrete or any other surface with good rigidity or support. The sub-
The floor must be flat and free of sundries.
To ensure the floor, please check the floor according to the long floor shown in Figure 11.
The longer the level, the more likely the child level is
The floor will be at its maximum size level.
Check back and forth on the left and right sides and center.
Do the same thing from one side to the other.
Finally, check the diagonal. Fig.
2 indicates the position of the 8 readings that should be taken.
Depending on the results of the liquid level measurement, some additional preparation may be required. If the sub-
The floor is relatively flat and can be used to level the shower pan with a gasket.
If the floor is uneven and uneven, the pouring is thin-
Material may need to be set up. Once the sub-
The floor is horizontal, the opening of the drain pipe is correct, followed by the setting of the shower pan. Step 2 -
Connect the drain assembly to the pan: it is recommended to use the standard 2-part brass drain assembly as shown in the figure3.
Components of this type should be available at any plumbing supply store or home improvement store.
Royal stone also sells this drain assembly.
Remove drain assembly.
Keeping the components in order makes reassembly faster and easier.
Place the pan on a saw horse or any raised platform that allows access to the top and bottom of the pan.
Spray drain opening with rubbing alcohol4.
Wipe the surface and internal edge of the pre-with a clean rag
Cut the drain opening and remove any dust or other contaminants from the drain area of the pan.
Apply generous beads of 100% silicone around the drain opening, fig. 5.
Insert the fifth part of the brass drain body, brass drain assembly into the drain hole, fig.
6, and firmly put in place. 7. Step 3 -
Remove the excess silicone: remove the excess silicone from the fifth part of the drain body.
Spray alcohol mist on the drainage area and silicone, fig. 8. With a Dap-
Cover, dig out the extra silicone, figure9.
This step may need to be repeated several times in order to remove the silicone completely.
Finally, spray a mist of alcohol and wipe the remaining film from the fifth part of the drain with a soft cloth. Step 4 -
Installation of drainage locking ring: connect the first part of the drainage filter to ensure that the fifth part of the drainage body is centered within the drainage hole, fig. 10.
From the bottom of the shower pan, connect parts 6, 7 and 8 to Part 5.
Tighten the lock ring, 8 parts until comfortable.
Don\'t tighten too much.
Excessive tightening can cause the shower pan to break.
Remove the drain filter, Part 1, and set aside.
If any additional silicone is squeezed from the shower pan drain and drain body, part 5, repeat step 3 until all the excess silicone is removed.
Handling Tips: use a set of glazer handles to handle the pan more easily and move the pan to the right position.
If not, so can brute force. Step 5 -
Dry the shower pan: lower the shower pan.
Make sure there is about 1/8 space between the shower tray flange and the bolt.
Depending on the level, confirm that the pan sits flat on the floor as shown in the figure11 & 12.
If additional filling is required, lift the pan where needed and place the filling material.
Lower the pan and check the level.
Repeat until the pot is flat.
Note: Be careful when tilting and handling the shower pan to prevent damage to the shower pan flange.
A flat plate is essential for proper drainage. Step 6 -
Bottom of the silicon pan: lift the pan against the inlaid wall.
Apply 100% silicone caulking agent to the strap
13, on the lower side of the shower pan.
In addition, apply a thick silicone ring around the drain opening of the sub-pipefloor, Fig. 14.
If the gasket is used, all the gaskets are fixed on the floor as needed. Step 7 -
Set up the shower pan: put the next shower pan well.
Check the level of the pan.
Press down as needed to re-
Flatten the shower pan.
Apply silicone beads along the front edge of the threshold, seal the threshold of the pot to the subfloor. Step 8 -
Connect the drain pipe to the drain pipe assembly: as shown in figure 5, fully inject silicone around and between the drain pipe and the brass drain15.
Place the rubber gasket, the fourth part of the drain assembly, on the PVC pipe, slide down until the top of the rubber gasket, the fourth part, fully in place, below the top of the drain assembly, fig. 16.
Twist the locking ring, the third part of the drain assembly to the drain body, and the fifth part.
Tighten the locking ring with a tightening tool, part 3, Part 2, until the rubber gasket, and part 4 is in place and close in place. Step 9 -
Trim PVC: the top of the PVC drain pipe must not extend to the top of the brass drain pipe body, part 5.
If it is on the top of the brass row water body, part 5, or extends above the top, trim the PVC so that it is about 1/4 lower than the top (part 5) of the brass row water body, but higher than the top of the rubber gasket (part 4.
Cutting PVC pipes with Dremel and Cutoff wheel.
If the second part of the tightening tool has not been removed, remove it and press the first part of the drainage filter in place.
Installation is complete.
Not including any children.
The floor is ready and it takes about an hour or less to install. Step 10 -
Curing: Let the shower pan set for 24 to 48 hours and let the silicone cure correctly.
Wall panels and wall panels can be installed after curing.
Note: Only 100% silicone is used when connecting a solid surface shower pan and wall panel.
Other adhesives or caulkers may harden.
Loss of elastic bonds between solid surfaces and other materials can result in stress on solid surfaces.
In turn, these stresses may cause the part to break and cause the manufacturer\'s warranty to be invalid.
